There is a natural explanation for everything.
When a natural explanation is not known, religion fills the gap with a supernatural alternative.
Religion then asks, "Do you have a natural explanation?"
When no answer is forthcoming, religion rests its case. It presumes that, because there is no known natural explanation, there is no natural explanation.
To that end religion's supernatural explanations fill the gaps by default.
Notable among the many Christians who offer supernatural explanations for natural phenomenon is the eminent astrophysicist, Dr. Hugh Ross. He takes gap filling to its highest level by providing supernatural explanations to the most intricate challenges in cosmology.
In the end, Dr. Ross's alternative fillers are nothing more than place holders awaiting displacement by naturalistic explanations.
